ECO Finishing provides Zinc Plating in Minneapolis that is compliant with ASTM-B-633 09. With over 60,000 sq ft of clean, well lit space, ECO Finishing has a streamlined plating process that complies with all EPA regulations regarding safety and waste treatment.

Zinc plating prevents oxidation and corrosion of the protected metal by forming a barrier and by acting as a sacrificial anode if this barrier is damaged. ASTM-B-633 09 covers the requirements for electro-deposited zinc coatings applied to iron or steel articles to protect them from corrosion. It does not cover zinc-coated wire or sheets. High strength steels with a tensile strength greater than 1700 Mpa shall not be plated.

ECO Finishing provides Zinc Plating services to a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical, military and manufacturers of industrial and consumer products. We do both rack and barrel plating in clear, yellow, olive drab or black finishes, and plate parts up to 13 feet in length for both low and high volume orders. ECO also provides Zinc Phosphate coatings.

The service life of zinc coatings is tied to the conditions of its environment or the wear or abrasions it is subjected to.

ECO finishing provides Zinc Plating of Types I, II, III, IV, V and VI, which meet a variety of thickness and service conditions. Service conditions are defined as:
  • SC1 - Mild conditions with exposure to dry indoor air and minimum wear and abrasion
  • SC2 - Moderate conditions with exposure to dry indoor air and moderate wear and abrasion
  • SC3 - Severe conditions with exposure to condensation, rain and cleaners
  • SC4 - Very sever conditions with exposure to harsh conditions or continually subjected to saline solutions or moisture cleaners

Inspection of plated parts is enhanced by more than 100 foot candles of light throughout the entire plant. Zinc plated thickness measurements are verified with X-ray fluorescence and our quality system conforms to military specifications as outlined in MIL-Q-45208. ECO uses Statistical Process Control (SPC) to assure that our product meets exacting industry standards.
